Not only this, cell phone companies keeps all records of your every calling or texting activities known as CDR records. Escaping from this is just like dodging a bullet. Enough chit-chat done, now let's start our work.

I've already told you to stay anonymous while on the internet. In this post, I'm gonna tell you about staying anonymous while using your cell phone. The baby step, I think everyone knows, Don't use your own SIM card. As soon as you power on your phone (with your SIM card inserted), They can easily identify you if that SIM card is registered with your credentials. The second step is that keep your location and maps settings OFF. These are just baby steps probably everyone knows, what you're not may familiar with this "You can even change your cell's IMEI number."

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. It is just a unique number assigned to every single cell phone in the world. It is generally of 15 digit long and you can find it on the back of your cell phone. You can also check this by typing *#06# on your dialer numpad. Now let's get out hands dirty. Remember guys, changing an IMEI number might be illegal in some countries and suitable action is taken by the government, so please make sure about your government policies and norms. An changed IMEI number is can't be traced because there is no CDR records for a new changed IMEI number.

First thing you gonna need a rooted android phone in order to change it's IMEI number. If your phone is not rooted then there is plenty of apps, softwares and guides available in the market to root your phone. KingoRoot is a one touch root app which you can use. It is free and easily available on the play store. It takes hardly 20 to 30 minutes to root your phone. The next step is to install Xposed framework on your device. You can easily download Xposed framework from it's official repository compatible with your android version. Here you get step by step guide to setup Xposed framework. Once it is all set, you're good to go. The last thing we need to download is a module within the Xposed framework names as "IMEI changer pro." You can easily find it within the modules tab.

Once you've downloaded this app, you need to soft reboot the Xposed framework(at upper right corner generally). Now run the IMEI changer app and perform the "Randomize on each request"       checklist option and hit apply. Now it's all set. The last thing you need to do is to reboot your phone.

There is another technical way to change your IMEI number.

  • Enter in engineering mode in your phone by typing *#*#3646633#*#* in dialer numpad.
  • Click on connectivity option.
  • Click on the CDS information menu.
  • Check for the Radio information for your phone.
  • If you have dual SIM phone, you got two phones options. Choose that one you wish to change IMEI number.
  • Now change IMEI number by typing following command.                                                                     AT +EGMR=1,7"IMEI_NO"
  • Replace IMEI_NO in above command by your desired IMEI number you want and then reboot your phone. If you got an "this command is not allowed in userbuild" error then just add a space between AT and + sign and you're good to go.
After rebooting your cell phone, You can check your IMEI number. It is changed. Remember guys, this post is just for educational purposes only and before implementing this method of changing IMEI number, please make sure about your country's rules and regulations about changing IMEI number because this is illegal in some countries.
