How to make a bootable pendrive

Probably you may have encountered a need of formatting your PC. Sometimes you want to format your OS or you want to dual boot on your computer. Every time you need a DVD for this purpose. But you'll see, your DVD scratched out after several uses and also it is also hard to carry DVD. Till now, we are using traditional methods of DVD, but now it's time change some rituals. Now you can easily make your bootable pendrive in just a few steps:

  • Download the Universal USB Installer(UUI) or Rufus software. These both are just a few kilo- bytes tools but comes very handy at time. You may choose any of them but I prefer UUI for *nix distributions and Rufus for Windows OS.
  • If you want to make a bootable drive for windows, then use Rufus and setup for the windows configuration. Before hitting start, your interface looks something like this:
  • If you want *nix, then I recommend to use UUI for this purpose because it contains almost every distributions of *nix.
  • Once you all set, create start/create and wait for some time and your bootable drive is ready to use.
  • Just plug it in and restart your computer and you'll see the boot loader.
  • In case of installing an OS on dual boot, then first you need to set USB as your top boot priority of your system.
This is a lot easier rather than to burn a DVD or disc drives which is very time consuming. Another benefit of having bootable flash drive is it lasts upto a very long time in compare to DVD and also portable.
